There are various reasons to donate clothes, and if you want to do so, then you need to know exactly how to go about it. The truth is if we don’t know how to donate we might not donate at all! Which is why I’ve put together this little guide to help you get donating the clothes that you don’t wear anymore.
Most of us have lots of stuff, and we are not using any of it anymore. Then, we can consider donating these things to the people who rely on them. There are several worldwide charity organizations, which accept a donation of furniture, household goods, clothing and other items, and make money from the selling donated items to the needy around the world.
What do I need to donate clothes? You need your old clothes (or accessories, jewelry, shows and so on) and some plastic bags or boxes to put them in!
Before You Donate Your Clothes
-First, you need to sort through your wardrobe. This is the hardest part for most people, and you’re going to need to be honest with yourself about the things that don’t fit you, the things you never wear, those new items you bought and never used. The chances are that someone, somewhere is going to be able to benefit from these clothes a lot more than you – so donate them now!
Now you need to get your clothes ready for donation. You could just give them how they are, but if you are self-conscious and eco-friendly then you should be nice! Clean up anything that’s dirty; you can wipe shoes down, wash your clothes and so on. It just makes the job quite easier for all of the volunteers who are going to be sorting the clothes out.
It’s now time to pack your clothes. Try folding them nicely in your bag or box, ready to be donated.
Now You’re Ready to Donate
There are some ways of donating clothes that you’ve so lovingly prepared:
Clothing Bins – These are a convenient option, found on high streets, at supermarkets and more. All you require to do is pop the bag of clothes through the right hole (a box probably won’t do).
Charity Shops – a widespread and popular option, as this lets you choose the individual cause that you wish to support. Don’t just leave the clothes outside of the door, walk in and hand them to the volunteer to ensure they stay in good condition.
The Internet – There is a solution to everything online, so do a quick search and find a site that will do something better with your old clothes that you can! Check out Pick Up Please for the easiest donation service out there.
Are you still not convinced that you should donate clothes? Then get yourself onto some eco-friendly fashion blogs to read just why it will help so many people, including yourself. And all for just a few hours worth of effort!
Forget not to get the receipt from the charity of giving as you might get tax reductions and deductions for the same. It is better for you to donate your fund and other used stuff to a charity foundation you already know and whom you can trust.
